😮 Face With Open Mouth Meaning in Text & Slang

😮 is officially Face With Open Mouth in the Smileys & Emotion set (Unicode 1.0). Dictionary meaning aside, most people meet it first in DMs, captions and status lines — where placement and pairing decide what it really says.

What does 😮 mean in texting?

Texting with 😮 is about vibe: one Face With Open Mouth keeps things breezy, two or three turn up the drama or joke. On Snapchat streaks and IG replies it often just means "I saw this" or "lol same". Because Apple, Google and Samsung draw 😮 slightly differently, keep it to 1–2 per message so the tone stays clear.

Meaning from a guy vs from a girl

Meaning from a guy vs from a girl? Largely the same — context beats gender. From a guy, 😮 is typically playful teasing, low-key flirting or "I'm joking, don't overthink it". From a girl, 😮 leans expressive: excitement, sarcasm or softening a "no". In both cases, check the words around it — a late-night "hey 😮" hits different than a midday "thanks 😮".
